01Prepping the sketch

Recipe · 6 min

Line weight, scale marks and colourways.

Clean line art on white converts best. Remove annotation layers, keep construction lines only where they describe real seams.

Give the sketch a scale reference - a stated height or a known component - so proportions land.

02Naming materials the model understands

Concept · 8 min

Material vocabulary that actually changes the render.

Named materials carry more information than adjectives. 'Sage vegetable-tanned leather, matte, lightly pebbled' produces a repeatable surface; 'nice leather' does not.

Build a shortlist of your house materials and reuse the exact wording across briefs.
